Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village. It is a most popular and attractive destination in Sri Lanka. Started in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife, it’s located on a 25-acre coconut property on the Maha Oya River at Rambukkana. With more than 100 adult and baby elephants, it’s a perfect stop for photos and riverside cafes.

Temple of Tooth Relic

The Temple of the Tooth Relic is located in Kandy and is considered one of the most sacred Buddhist shrines in the world. This temple houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha and is a focal point of Buddhist reverence. The temple stands as the spiritual heart of Kandy, which served as the capital of ancient Sri Lanka from 1592 to 1815.

Peradeniya Botanical Garden

The Royal Botanic Gardens in Peradeniya, just 5.5 km from Kandy, attract over 2 million visitors annually. Spread across 147 acres and sitting at 460m above sea level, the gardens feature more than 4,000 species of plants, including rare orchids, spices, and medicinal flora.

Batik Factory

Explore a traditional Batik Factory in Kandy where you'll witness the detailed batik-making process firsthand. This is a great opportunity to learn about Sri Lankan textile culture and purchase handmade items like wall hangings, tablecloths, and clothing.
